The Short Version

The Advocate is here to help you. Use it for that. Don’t use it to hurt yourself or others. That’s basically it.

What The Advocate Is

The Advocate is a tool designed to support young people in foster care. It can help you:

  • Keep track of important information (court dates, school records, contacts)
  • Store documents and memories that belong to you
  • Talk through problems and get help thinking things through
  • Connect with resources and share information with people you trust

What The Advocate Isn’t

  • Not a replacement for emergency services. If you’re in immediate danger, call 911.
  • Not a therapist. We can help you think, but we’re not a substitute for professional mental health care.
  • Not legal advice. We can help you understand your rights and prepare for court, but we’re not your lawyer.

Your Responsibilities

  • Be yourself. One account per person. That account is yours.
  • Don’t pretend to be someone else.
  • Don’t use The Advocate to threaten or harm anyone.
  • Keep your login secure. Don’t share your password.

Our Responsibilities

  • Keep your data safe.
  • Be honest with you about what we can and can’t do.
  • Keep improving based on what actually helps.
  • Stay on your side.

Age Requirements

The Advocate is designed for young people in the foster care system. If you’re under 13, we need your caseworker or guardian to help set up your account.

Ending Your Account

You can leave anytime. If you want to delete your account:

  • We’ll give you a copy of all your data first
  • After you confirm, we’ll delete everything within 30 days
  • Some things (like records we’re legally required to keep) may take longer

We can also end your account if you’re using The Advocate to harm others. We’ll tell you why if that happens.

Changes to These Terms

If we change these terms, we’ll let you know. Big changes won’t surprise you.
